Super soft and luxurious, this scarf is long (180cm x 26cm) and warm. Its weight makes it ideal for wintery days and cold evenings.
As part of our Grown + Made collection, this limited edition scarf is knitted from fine merino wool grown on Richmond Park Estate farm in the south of Tasmania. After the wool left the farm it was carefully carded and spun into yarn in Victoria prior to it being knitted in our workroom in the Yarra Valley. It has never left Australia.
This collection is undyed, showcasing the merino fibre's natural creamy colour. It is sometimes possible to see (but not feel) micro-remnants of grass from the farm fields in the knit, reflecting the minimal processing of the fibre. The product label is also knitted from merino wool, noting this unique collaboration.
Designed for the circular economy; the wool was grown on a farm that uses regenerative practices, the sheep have been lovingly cared for, and, because it is made in Australia, there have been minimal processing and transport emissions.
This scarf is naturally resistant to dirt and when required responds well to spot cleaning (dabbing with water). If it needs to be washed, this should be carried out carefully by hand in a sink, and then dried on a flat surface. It should not be washed in a washing or dried in a dryer.
Brood is partnering directly with local farmers to help re-establish the capability to process and manufacture wool products in Australia from the fibre we grow. This capability was lost over the last few decades meaning almost all the wool we grow heads overseas in its raw form. This is our first collection of this long-term project.
